We focus our attention on the southwest village, bringing a new architecture form with the concerns of the environment to the less developed village. We use a local architectural form - bridges as a starting point, according to the local resident demanding of building function, and integration into the local characteristics of folk activities and daily life. Combined with local characteristics according to green building should be dealt with on the local conditions of adding environmental elements. We hope that through the green building design from the countryside to explore the potential of new space, making the modern concept of green building is not only in the city, but also in the larger villages root.

We design the building in the southwest where several villages regularly held festivals in riverside flat areas and make the exchange of commodities in Sichuan province. Local customs and traditions are built covered bridge - bridges and construction of the junction on the river. Traditional forms transport of covered bridge is shops separation, making the covered bridges without economic effects. We want to combine the transportation on the road with shops upstairs, make full use of the flow of people gathered by the bridge, and make this trade area more active. The ups and downs of the road provide space for free traders. Lower space provides places for regular exchange of commodities and traditional cultural performances. We gather different kind of space efficiently to make the best of the precious resource of land in the mountain.

We plant trees from mountains around on the roof made of steel frame and white cement. The plants can help to cool the building, to hold water as well as to connect the bridge to the local environment, making it a part of the landscape. Fluid curved form combines with function requirements. It also helps to ventilate and provide chances to get close to nature. The local people will float the Lotus Lantern in the river and we just provide a platform for them. It’s a stage for their traditional culture. Local woods can help save the cost of transportation and construction.
